Providing VR assets as part of an architectural visualization project is gradually becoming the norm. We’ve seen a few solutions before, and today I’m showcasing a new one by Biganto, called Virtoaster. Exciting features to consider are the overall 3d model explorer (open scale model style) and customizable interactive hotspots.

Biganto is an ArchViz Studio and a Digital Solutions supplier for developers, architects, designers, and CG artists. They are best known for creating interactive tours of large scale, such as Rumyantsevo Park, the “Making of” posted here a couple of years ago.

Virtoaster is a classic case of “scratching your own itch,” creating a tool others can benefit from during the process and bridge the gap between the existing pipeline of architecture visualization and interactive and VR content production.

With Virtoaster, you are provided with a toolkit and infrastructure for content creators, allowing you to turn your architecture visualization assets into a VR experience. Virtoaster is a self-service tour creator, a Software as a Service designed to make VR and interactive content creation in ArchViz accessible and easy.

How Virtoaster works :

  • Download the toolkit from the website.
  • Use the toolkit within an existing architecture visualization scene to prepare assets.
  • Upload the created assets into the Virtoaster web interface and wait for the tour to be ready.
  • Use an internet browser or one of the Virtoaster applications to view the tour on a PC, mobile or VR device.

The entire cycle described above takes several minutes (excluding asset rendering time) and does not require any extra knowledge beyond regular architecture visualization experience.

Check out the Viroaster Quick Start Guide.

Freedom of Movement

There is only one viewpoint per room in traditional virtual tours with jumping to another room. Virtoaster allows you to move smoothly through the virtual space, navigate quickly, and understand the space planning without breaking the immersion. There is no limit to the number of viewpoints you can set and move between as you wish.

Multi-Platform Support

Virtoaster tours work on desktops, mobile, and VR devices. A demonstration provides easy access to the tour for all website visitors and comprehensive audience coverage via the internet browser or offline with dedicated apps.

Wide functionality

  • Clickable objects show detailed information about furniture items and decoration
  • Three-dimensional view from above
  • Measuring tape for measuring distances
  • Anchor links to a specific location in the tour
  • Recording and subsequent playback of the route
